Kiambu OCPD has cautioned area residents against carrying crude weapons in public as it is against the law.
This comes following an incident of a middle-aged man who was arraigned in a Kiambu law court for carelessly carrying a machete in public.
Speaking in his office, the police boss, Stephen Ngetich, said that carrying crude weapons is prohibited as it poses a danger to human life.
He said that some members of the public carelessly carry such weapons without any knowledge that they can land themselves on the wrong side of the law.
The OCPD further explained that anyone found carrying such weapons may be suspected of being a threat to the public.
“I warn the members of the public to avoid carrying crude weapons in public carelessly and whoever found in possession of them will face the wrath of the law,” said the police boss.
He also cautioned farmers who are fond of carrying their farming tools carelessly and advised them to transport them while covered to avoid posing a security threat.
According to Diana Wangari a farmer in Kiambu, like herself many farmers do not know that it is wrong to carry farming tools carelessly.
She said that she is now aware and she will take caution so as not to commit the offense and not to be suspected of posing a threat to anyone.
