Kiambu residents have been urged to go for free cholera vaccination at Kiambu District Hospital in a bid to curb the spread of the disease.
Speaking at Kiambu District Hospital today, the nursing officer Teresia Mbua said that the vaccine is available and it’s for free for anyone in the region.
She said that the vaccine is important as it will help in curbing the spread the disease among those who have been vaccinated. The nursing officer added that the county government was appealing to all residents to go for the vaccine. She said that the spread of cholera in the region was high and people should not assume that they are not infected but take steps to ensure they are safe. “I urge all members of the public within this area to come to the hospital and get the vaccine free of charge,” said the nursing officer. Florence Waithera, a resident in the area hailed the operation saying that it was a good step to safeguard the health of the residents.
She said she had already taken the vaccine and thanked the government for coming up with the initiative.
