Kiambu residents have been challenged to remain vigilant and work with the police to tame insecurity.
Addressing the public at Githunguri trading centre on Monday, the deputy governor, Gerald Githinji, said residents have a role to play in security.
He said that in as much as the government is taking precautionary measures against terror elements, Kenyans must support the initiatives.
“Security remains a responsibility of every citizen and leader, we must support our security personnel as they fight crime,” said Githinji.
The deputy governor said that terrorism is a global problem that needs concerted efforts to address it.
He added that terror agents should not be given a chance to cause havoc and rob the country of innocent lives.
The deputy governor called on the national government to put in place more measures including intensified security.
He said that Kenyans are counting on the government to completely deal with terror elements.
Githinji said that the county government will work with the national government to deal with crime and terrorism.
At the same time, the deputy governor assured Kiambu locals of their safety saying that police are on high alert.
He said that security personnel through the county commissioner have been directed to deal decisively with criminals.
“We are working and coordinating with the county commissioners’ office to ensure that Kiambu locals have security,” added the deputy governor.
