The stations will be established in Limuru, Kikuyu, Kiambu, Ruiru and Githunguri sub-counties considering the areas are far from the major station in Thika and the disasters have been rapidly increasing in the recent days.

Speaking during the fire fighters graduation ceremony in Thika, Roads and Public works officer Njeri Gatabaki said that the fighters will be equipped with modern equipments with 7 fire engines expected from the National Government, Ministry of Housing.

“The Ministry of Housing from the National Government has promised to donate 7 fire engines in the financial year,” said Gatabaki.

He revealed that in August this year the first group of 19 fire fighters graduated in England where they improved their skills in disaster management thus they respond 2-15 minutes after any fire incident compared to the earlier state where they could take hours to prepare before responding.

Netherlands is also set to donate five fire fighting engines to Kenya that will come directly to Kiambu County.
