The Kiambu County government has set aside Sh150 million this financial year for bursaries, governor William Kabogo has said.
Kabogo, who was speaking during this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations at Ndumberi playground, said his government allocated the funds to help the needy and bright students acquire education.
“For the county to produce enough and qualified doctors, pilots, engineers among other reputable professionals, we need to invest in our needy and bright students to acquire their desired education, and this is what the county government is doing,” said Kabogo.
The governor said the fund is meant to cater for the less fortunate in the society and thus stringent procedures must be followed by beneficiaries.
He cautioned those charged with the responsibility of disbursing the fund against influencing and manipulating of the fund to deny the needy access.
“County’s bursary fund is not for the provincial administrators or MCAs but it is government money meant to assist the needy in the society. Leaders should ensure that right people should be allocated the cash to accomplish their educational goals,” the governor added.
