This is after a survey revealed that they had lost interest on the document. Speaking from her office in Kiambu Town on Tuesday, Kiambu Lands and Housing officer Lucia Munjogu expressed fears that most residents were reluctant to get their title deeds which could help them secure loans in present time or even future.

Munjogu explained that many residents were unable to develop their land as many financial institutions required title deeds as collateral before they disburse any loans to any individual.

She implored land owners to have their pieces of land surveyed by professional practitioners to protect their property from encroachment.

Munjogu also observed that title deeds were a tool in which conflicts involving lands could be reduced between area residents and squatters who may settle on their land. This is because the deeds reveal the true ownership of a particular piece of land.

She added that the county government was liaising with the national government to end the squatter menace in the county.

Munjogu added that high poverty levels among the residents was caused by the squatter problem leading to the escalation of crime in the county.
