Kiambu teachers have been asked to remain united as the ongoing strike continues to paralyse learning activities in public schools across the county for the second week running.
County Kuppet Secretary General James Kimani has told teachers; both from the union and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), to remain united as they seek to have their salary issues addressed.
The secretary general said that the strike will continue, unless the government honours up to teachers concerns.
“Teachers across Kiambu should remain united in our quest for better salaries and allowances, we will not be cowed,” he said.
The secretary general rubbished Teachers Service Commission’s decision to send education officials to assess situation in public schools, saying they will not be intimated or threatened as they are fighting a just cause.
He added that teachers have for a long time been denied their rights and subjected to poor pay.
The teachers strike in public primary and secondary schools has entered the seventh day today, with no signs yet of it ending any time soon.
The Industrial Court is set to meet with teachers unions together with TSC on Wednesday, in a bid to end the strike that has continued to affect students.
