Kiambu County government is working closely with the Ministry of Lands and Housing to digitize all land records before the end of the year (2016) with aim of curbing graft in the sector, Governor William Kabogo has said.

Speaking on Thursday when he held a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Lands and Housing at his Kiambu office, Kabogo said that digitization of records will improve efficiency and ensure proper keeping of records.

Kabogo also said that the digitization process will help tame cases of graft that are rampant in the land sector.

“We have started the process of digitizing all our land registries in Kiambu to make sure that residents have access to land information with a click of a button,” he said.

The county boss indicated that they have partnered with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to oversee the digitization process.

Kabogo noted that cases of land conflict is on the rise in Kiambu noting that such cases can be tackled through proper automation.

The Governor urged residents and developers wishing to buy land in the county to get information from the county.

He noted that cases where people are duped by land con-men are on the rise.

The Kiambu boss added that all government sectors and activities will be automated to ensure residents have access to all government information and projects.
