A Jubilee Member of Parliament has warned Kiambu residents against supporting Deputy President William Ruto's bid for the presidency in 2022 'blindly'.
According to Nyeri Town legislator Wambugu Ngunjiri, voters in President Uhuru Kenyatta's backyard should only endorse Ruto after he assures them of the benefits they will accrue from his presidency.Reacting to remarks made last week by Gatundu South Moses Kuria that Ruto will get 1.5 million votes from Kiambu and ODM leader Raila Odinga gets a single vote, Ngunjiri wondered what the populous county would get in return for the massive support. In a long Facebook post on Sunday, the first-time MP said DP's Rift Valley region had benefited a lot for its support for Uhuru's presidency, and therefore, Ruto should not expect to get votes in 2022 for 'free'.Here is Ngunjiri’s full statement; I WONDER WHAT KIAMBU WILL GET IN RETURN FOR 1.5M VOTESMy colleague Hon Moses Kuria sent me a clip where he states that all the 1.5M votes that will be in Kiambu County in 2022 belong to William Ruto. I suspect that in the excitement of sending me this good news Hon Moses Kuria forgot to send me the part where he explains what Kiambu will get in return for the 1.5M votes. (Anyone with that part of the video please send it to me).In 2013 William Ruto mobilized around 2M votes for President Uhuru Kenyatta in Rift Valley. In return, he got the Deputy Presidency, the opportunity to appoint several CSs, and a say in how government runs.In Nyeri we will not guarantee anyone any votes before 2021. And then when we do get there whoever gets our votes will have to tell us what we are getting in return. ‘Ithûî tutîendagîrio mûhûko ta bhangi’ (Nobody will sell us from the pocket as bhang is done).
