Governor William Kabogo has rewarded students’ initiative to contribute school fees for their under-priviledged peers.
Speaking at a Ngarariga Primary school in Kiambu, the governor said that the already existing bursary fund will be increased from Sh157 million during the last financial year to Ksh 300 million this year.
He further went on to applaud students and institutions that engage in profitable activities such as organizing marathons, conducting profitable businesses and putting up fundraisers to ensure poor students stay in school.
Ngarariga School which also had a marathon in that regard inviting Kabogo as guest of honor, said the proceeds from the marathon will help in the establishment of an endowment fund aimed at meeting the education needs of needy children.
Kabogo said that the bursary fund will benefit those that have applied within this month stating that he will make sure children stay in school with increased allocations to each individual. Education Executive Esther Ndirangu also added that each ward would receive Sh 1.2 million in the first term of 2015.
