A section of women drawn from Kiambu county has welcomed the area woman representative appeal that men should marry more than one wife.
They said that if men follow as they were advised then most ladies who are single will have partners.
"This will be good because at least we shall have men accepting the number of wives that they have and not the usual style where a man has one official wife and several side chics," said Irene Wambui, a local.
Ms Wambui argued that it is very beneficial for a man who has more than one wife rather than hiding several others from the public.
"The proposal by the woman representative is ideal as it will reduce the number of single mothers who often shy from being married as second and third wives," said Ms Wambui.
Ms Monica Wanjiru, a Thika based businesswoman said that she would like the woman representative to push churches in the region to recognise polygamy.
"Her proposal should be considered by the church so that a man can be allowed to marry more than one wife through a wedding," she said.
The sentiments come just a few days after the woman representative asked rich men to marry more than one woman.
