Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has urged women in the county to come out and seek elective positions.
The governor who was speaking today at Ruiru town said that women have been empowered and should come out and compete for leadership posts.
He said that time when women were locked out of leadership is over adding that his government has put in place strategies that aim at empowering women.
“Kiambu women should come out and compete for leadership positions in both the county and the national government,” he said.
The Kiambu boss further said that his government through the Biashara Fund and other initiatives is empowering women.
He said that empowering women will go a long way in realising socio-economic development.
Kabogo urged elected women leaders to support their colleagues and ensure that they are well represented.
“Kiambu elected women leaders must support their colleagues for purposes of development and empowerment,” he said.
Kabogo urged women to apply for state funds and start businesses. He observed that women through their small enterprises and chamas contribute largely to the county’s economy.
He said that his government will remain focused on empowering women, youths and disabled persons.
