Kiambu County Women Representative, Ann Nyokabi, has urged Kiambu women to embrace contraceptives since this will help them live a better life.
Speaking in Ndeiya and Lusighetti on Thursday, Nyokabi said bearing many children contributes to poverty.
“Use of contraceptives will help women to bear children they will be able to support, hence reducing poverty level in our county,” said Nyokabi.
She noted that many children in a family is a call for more responsibilities which translate to need of more resources.
The legislator said school drop outs is sometimes caused by lack of fees which is as a result of scarce resources.
She said that most of school drop out end up becoming street children indulging in drug abuse and living hopeless lives.
Nyokabi has called on women to shape their life and start limiting their birth rates so as thelp he county to have minimal school drop out which will help in realization of vision 2030.
She has however revealed that plans are underway to establish workshops for sensitisation of women empowerment in the society with regards to family planning to reduce birth rates in the county.
The women rep extended his gratitude to the county governor William Kabogo for his consistent support to the people of Kiambu and urged residents to embrace the development.
