Ruiru MP Esther Gathongo has urged Kiambu County women to be active and seek involvement in matters leadership and development.

Addressing women leaders at Ruiru town on Thursday, Gathongo said that women have every right to be part of leadership and development.

She stated that their rights are being infringed on because many of them are not ready to speak out and demand involvement.

The MP said that being vocal on key issues facing them and the society at large will see them rise to leadership.

“Women should stop keeping quiet and fight for their rights. The constitution has given us a chance to demand your rights,” she said.

The Ruiru legislator observed that women will continue to suffer if they fail to stand up and have their voices heard

She said that the government through the constitution has given them a platform to demand for their rights.

The MP noted that women opinions, skills and thoughts are needed to solve some of the challenges facing the society.

She urged Kiambu women to stand up and push for their rights on matters of leadership.

She also appealed to county women to take up the funds and other resources being given by the government to better their lives.

On the same note, Gathongo urged governor William Kabogo to put in place more programmes that will recognise women.

She said that as the county governor, Kabogo must be on the frontline in championing for women rights.
