Addressing TNA delegates at a Kiambu hotel on Monday, the coordinator urged women to be alert and fight suggestions being plotted to scrap women representative seats.

Chania said that women interests on representation are well established in the 2010 constitution.

“I urge fellow women leaders to come out and fight against those who think they can manipulate the constitution to deny us our rights,” she said.

The Kiambu TNA coordinator added that the one-third gender rule must be implemented as stipulated in the constitution.

She said that for equal development and access to opportunities especially on leadership, gender equality and fairness must be exercised.

The coordinator accused some leaders in government of feeling threatened by the presence of women and thus wanting to scrap positions meant for women.

“We are well aware that some of our male counterparts are feeling threatened by our growth as women hence want to oust us,” she said.

At the same time, Chania urged Kiambu TNA delegates to rally behind the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP).

She said that formation of JAP was meant to bring Kenyans together and also fight tribalism.

The coordinator said that sensitisation campaigns to make JAP known to Kiambu residents will start soon.
