Youths in Kiambu County have been called upon to export their skills and labour and provide professional services to other countries.
Speaking from her office on Friday, Kiambu sub-county youth officer, Charity Githinji said that there are opportunities outside the country for youth with technical skills ready to work as expatriates.
She asked the youth not to confine their search for employment opportunities to the counties stating that those with skills can provide professional services elsewhere including in the diaspora.
According to Githinji, working in the diaspora plays a role in building the local economy through remittance of billions of foreign currency that could be used to promote investment.
Githinji said that many youth in Kiambu were unemployed and asked them to be aggressive in pursuing training and further education to be able to compete favourably for available vacancies.
She said the Public Service Commission will not lax recruitment rules to favour some candidates when advertising for vacancies.
Githinji explained that Kiambu Public Service Commission would maintain high standards in order to recruit competent staff who will provide quality services.
The youth officer added that her office provides equal opportunities to all youths in Kiambu.
