Kiambu youth have raised concern towards the county government of being neglected and not being involved in the county development project and planning.
The youth said that Governor Kabogo has not been involving them in any development of the county yet it is a digital era where the youth’s expertise should be given a chance.
Led by Renox Onyango, Thika sub county youth representative, the youth said that they have always been told to identify areas that will help them generate income but when they place it on the table, the county government ignores their proposal alleging that there is no enough funds.
Onyango who is also the disaster management director of Thika Red Cross rubbished the Mau Mau veteran claims that youth are misleading the government saying that fresh minds digs deep.
“Yes the veterans are well conversant with leadership but youth understand the people who after all they are the majority in Kenya,” he said.
He refuted the allegations that the youth are used by a section of Members of County Assembly to disrupt the government of Kabogo from serving the public.
He reveals that the county government did not consult the stakeholders who are the public before passing the proposed finance bill claiming that youth have been suppressed and twisted to dance the tune of the governor.
”Being a youth in Kiambu is like serving a jail term where freedom of expression is like an untold story,” Onyango expressed his worries.
The Youth representative also hit the Kiambu Members of County Assembly who pretend to be the youth yet they are the same people fighting the fellow youths in development.
“The Members of County Assembly whom we thought would help us as youth are the same people fighting and suppressing us yet we speak the same language,” Onyango expressed.
