Kiambu Youth Association chairperson Francis Wainaina has asked area youths to be wary of con artists asking for money with false promises of providing jobs.
Speaking in Kiambu town today, the youth leader said that cases of young people being conned have risen up.
He observed that some people are taking advantage of unemployment to con unsuspecting young people.
“We want to tell Kiambu youths seeking employment to be wary of people claiming to give them jobs at a cost,” he said.
The youth leader said that no one should demand money in exchange of giving job opportunities.
Wainaina said that several youths have fallen in the trap and regretted that the county government is not doing enough to curb joblessness.
He said: “Many young people are depressed and have lost hope in life because they have no jobs. The Kiambu government should fast-track creation of jobs for the many unemployed youths and help save on the situation.”
The youth leader at the same time appealed to young people to stay away from crime even if they are seeking jobs.
He urged them to start small ventures that will help them earn descent livelihoods.
