A section of Kiambu youths have complained over the lack of access to Uwezo Fund.
This, they say, is even after forming groups to access the funds.
Speaking at Kirigiti grounds on Thursday, the chairman of Kamitha Youth Group Kirigiti (KYGK), Samuel Ng'ang'a, said that some youths from the group had come together and formed minor groups of 10-15 people with business plans but failed to be given the funds.
He added that despite their numerous efforts to ensure they fulfil all the requirements, they were always disappointed.
Ng'ang'a said that the Youth office in the area had failed to accomplish their role to help the youths in the area. He added that the youth group was aimed at helping the youths get their own businesses but the office was letting them down.
Ng'ang'a added that the group had even attended different sessions by the youth office on how to become entrepreneurs and also on how to access the funds.
"We are determined to change the society especially among the youths but the youth office has disappointed us numerous times. We want to urge the county government to come in to aid as we are genuine youths who are focused on changing lives through business and the ideas we have," said Ng'ang'a.
However, according to the Kiambu Youth officer Charity Githinji, the accusations were all wrong since the youths had not accomplished all the requirements. She added that the groups that had come had not registered as a group hence not getting the funds.
She revealed that other youth groups had accessed the funds and were already in business. She mentioned that the office was not against giving the youths funds but they needed the groups to satisfy all the requirements.
