Kiambu County Deputy Governor Gerald Githinji has revealed that the county has set aside enough funds besides the Uwezo Fund to support youths in venturing in businesses this year.
Githinji who was speaking on Friday at Hospital Ward where the area MCA Mwangi Wa Mwangi established Juakali Washrooms initiated by Jungle Foundation, said that the county government has a plan to support youths not only in terms of giving them funds but also to be organising a workshop trainings that will be purely business oriented to nature young entrepreneurs.
The deputy governor said that the workshop will run for two weeks and plans are underway to validate the dreams of youth in the county.
“The workshop will run for two weeks where we will meet important people like Thika District Business Association (TDBA) Chairman Waweru Nderitu and former news anchor Johnson Mwakazi to speak about dreams of entrepreneurs,” said Gerald Githinji.
He said that soon the advertisement will be out and urged youths to attend the workshop in large numbers the moments it will be communicated to the public.
According to Githinji, many youths have fallen out of their mission in life and have engaged in crime, drug and substance abuse which he claimed have led to immorality in the society.
Githinji has however called on youths to be visionary and business oriented people instead of waiting for the government to employ them.
“Lets us not lose sight of our dreams and be visionary people who want to make life different and be a change they want to see,” added Githinji.
He lauded the TDBA Chairman Nderitu for promoting business in the county adding that Nderitu is an entrepreneur with a vision who began just like any other youth.
Githinji further challenged the youths not to be incited by a section of leaders who have ‘malicious agenda’ towards development of the county.
