A Kiambu football coach has urged area youths to embrace sports as a means of earning a living.
Speaking on Thursday during a Mathare Youths Sports Association meeting at Githurai, William Otieno said that the youths should be involved in sporting activities for personal growth and as a means of livelihood.
Otieno advised them to utilise time allocated for sports and physical education in schools to practice and perfect their skills.
The coach told players to be focused on their activities to achieve their dreams adding that character and discipline was the key to success in life.
He urged school heads to encourage sports in schools and hire professional coaches to train children to improve their performance in sports.
Otieno warned youths against engaging in anti-social activities such as drug abuse and embrace education which is vital for empowerment of people in the country.
He pleaded with the parents to allow their children to join teams in the area in an effort to fight idleness.
