Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi on Thursday hosted a delegation from the Kiambu County Department of Education, Gender, Youth, Culture and Sports who paid a courtesy call at his office.
The delegation was led by the Kiambu County Executive Committee Member Dr. Joseph Ng'ang'a.
Mombasa county government over the years has developed a robust education policy for the children.
Kingi said the county was honoured to share some of its best practises with the rest of the country.
"We hope that our counterparts shall also borrow from us our landmark feeding programme for ECDE and lower primary school pupils," he noted adding that the milk programme has been a major incentive to the children "truancy is no longer an issue in Mombasa county."
During the meeting, Kingi said Mombasa county also boasts of several state of the art ECDE centres which have been designed and well equipped to suit the needs of the children.
"There's a lot to borrow in the structural designs and furnishing of those centres. Our efforts in promoting sports as an alternative source of income to our youths are evident in the stadia we have constructed in various parts of the country."
Mombasa also has a workable youth intervention programmes that the County government is implementing to harness youth empowerment.
"It would be a great learning platform to our counterparts from Kiambu as we exchange ideas and as well pick from their best practises," said Kingi.
"Mombasa county remains open to partnerships of mutual benefit with other counties within the region and shall not hesitate to share information and acquire the same for the betterment of our county," he added.
