Kianda revealed that the national government was fully aware of the current drought situation in the county, and is in the process of coming up with a programme that will ensure all the donations towards assisting the hunger-stricken families are put in a similar basket to be distributed in an organized manner.

“We do not want a situation where relief food items and other non-food donations are distributed haphazardly. We would want to see that the food supply and other non-food aid reach to all corners of the county and in a very organized manner,” he stated.

Garissa County is currently witnessing biting water and food crisis, with locals appealing to the government and humanitarian agencies for food donations.
