Waiguru told the press that the school holds almost half of Kiandutu children population considering it is the only school in the area with at least a large number of teachers compared to the others.

“This school is densely populated as almost all the children from this slum are pupils there. Its closure has raised concerns in the area as you can see the children are all over idling. The crimes are feared to rise again and that’s why I call onto the public health officer to open the school and reduce this dominance,” Waiguru said.

He said that the area crime activities rate might rise again as the children are also involved in crimes when out of school and mostly at this time that they are at home at all time.

The chief has called onto the public health office in Thika sub-county to consider helping the parents to fast-track the construction of the school washrooms so as the children may get back to school.

The business persons in the area have raised concerns too, according to the chief, and they are urging the county government of Kiambu to assist the parents of the school construct better facilities in the area saying the residents are overwhelming the one public washroom which were recently launched by the NYS troops.

Waiguru said he is having a hard time with the area administration police to ensure the area is safe and the business premises are also secured.
