Thika elderly persons are now appealing for government interventions to enable them get land title deeds.
The residents of kiandutu slums of thika sub county said they are now living in fear of loosing the land due to an alleged ongoing forceful eviction. They said that the ongoing slum upgarde may lead them to loosing their plots which they have toilde for in the earlier years
According to hospital ward representative, mwangi wamwangi, the elderly group were issued with allotment letters 30 years ago but the title deeds have never been issued.
“We are not going to sit back as leaders and assume the plight of our old people in the society yet they were assigned land by leaders who were in Authority those days,” wamwangi said
The MCA who was addressing the kiandutu slum dwellers who are in Possession of allotment letters on today in the area and promised to pursue the county government of kiambu Land management board to process Title deeds.
”Being in an informal settlement does not warrant any form of discrimination and abuse by those in power,” wamwangi added
He warned those who have used dubious ways to acquire title deeds for land already allocated with allotment letters to keep off from evicting innocent Kenyans.
