Speaking to journalists on Monday in Kiandutu, residents said that this month alone, there has been more than ten cases of burglary in the area.

"These cases have taken place consecutively. Before, the thieves were stealing chicken but now they have turned to burglary where in some cases, they are even stealing left over food,” said James Mwaura, a resident.

The residents said they suspect that the burglars hail from the slum.

"These are people who know us as they know the time we leave and come back. Most of the break-ins take place during the day,” said Rose Nduta.

The residents appealed to the county government to set up a police post in the area.

"Governor William Kabogo promised us a police post early this year but it is yet to be set up. We need one urgently and if need be, we can have them on a rented space as we wait for the government to build a permanent one,” said Charles Mulwa.
