Vincent Njuguna Kamande, 18, is said to have slashed Kenneth Okumu Barasa, 48, with a panga on his cheek leaving him with severe injuries. The victim was on his way from a friend’s funeral when he met a gang with blunt weapons on the road awaiting him.

According to Okumu, the attackers must have been aiming to kill as they attacked him ruthlessly considering the injuries they caused.

“I was coming from a friend’s funeral when I met three men armed with weapons. They attacked me forcing me to surrender what I had,” Okumu said.

The three armed men allegedly waited for the man at Kianjau primary school and managed to steal from him some money and his mobile phone after beating him mercilessly.

Okumu was rescued by the police on patrol who had been informed by a Good Samaritan after he witnessed the crime being committed by the attackers.

Thika OCPD Shadrack Maithya has confirmed that the man was treated and discharged as he was in a stable condition.

He has further warned the culprits of the scene saying that he has information about the whereabouts of the criminal den in the area and he will soon raid the den to get down the criminals.

“We are aware the culprits have been disturbing residents for long now and we are sure to make arrests soon as we complete our raiding plans in their den and residence,” Maithya said.

The culprit is police custody waiting to be arraigned in court as soon as police are through with investigations.
