Former President Mwai Kibaki has now endorsed his nephew Nderitu Muriithi for the Laikipia governor's seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.
Speaking at the Nanyuki Sports Club, Kibaki lauded Muriithi’s development plan for Laikipia and termed him a hardworking man.
He also held a similar political meeting in Nyahururu on Friday where he drummed up more support for the nephew.
“Those who work hard are always admired. I have experience in these things and I have been there. I believe we will succeed and have the job,” he said while beating the drum for the former Industrialisation Assistant Minister.
He challenged voters of the county to ensure they elect good leaders who fulfill their promises and not those with sweet words and no real work on the ground.
“You must make good decisions during voting and demand services. Some of the existing problems are not new but have been there because of unfulfilled pledges,” he said.
KIbaki asked the delegates to “speak with one voice” in support for Muriithi and expressed confidence that the hopeful will clinch the seat.
