The immediate former president of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki has landed a UN job.
Kibaki was on Tuesday appointed by a special envoy to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
While on an official trip to France, President Uhuru Kenyatta attended the global event where the appointment of his immediate predecessor was officially made public at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. It is reported that Kibaki was not present at the summit to receive the good news.
On Tuesday, President Kenyatta took to his Facebook page to break the news of Kibaki's appointment. He posted, ‘‘witnessing the historic appointment of the former president, Emilio Mwai Kibaki as a UNESCO special envoy for water in the African continent at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris, France.’’
President Kenyatta also took the chance to congratulate Kibaki for his new job.
The France visit ended on April 6 where President Kenyatta also witnessed the signing of a bilateral agreement between the Kenyan officials and UNESCO to hasten digital learning in Kenya.
