The former head of state Mwai Kibaki was stranded at the Kisumu International Airport on Saturday morning due to a delay in domestic flights.
He was caught up in the delay hours in Kakamega County after attending a graduation ceremony at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
He was among 44 other passengers who had been delayed to board a domestic flight to Nairobi.
Mbuvi Ngunze, Kenya Airways Chief Executive commented on the incident and said it is normal to have rotational delays during the peak seasons.
He also added that that the turnaround times could be longer than anticipated.
