This follows the operation he recently underwent to remove from his neck an arterial clot.

The Nation has revealed that the former president was currently recovering well and that he was now able to eat on his own.

Kibaki spent a week at Johannesburg’s Netcare Sunninghill Hospital where no visitors were allowed apart from his family members.

“His family is renting a lodge opposite the hospital for easy access to the hospital,” said the Nation.

Kibaki fell ill last Saturday at his Muthaiga home and was taken to Karen Hospital where doctors referred him to South Africa for specialised treatment.
