A section of boda boda riders from Kibera who received driving licences last week from a project by the Kibera Constituency Development Fund have pledged to use them validly by adhering to traffic rules.

Speaking Monday morning at boda boda stage in Karanja village, Maurice Otieno said he will not have trouble with the police unlike before when he used to dodge them to avoid arrest due to lack of the document.

"In fact, since I ventured into the boda boda business, I have been facing difficulties especially with the traffic police. Now that have been given the free licence, I will always carry it with me to show the police in case they need to proof that I am a registered boda boda operator. I take this opportunity to thank our area MP Okoth Ken and the CDF committee for supporting Kibera youths," said Otieno.

"My life will change now for the better. I received a free licence that I have been struggling to get but our MP, in conjunction with the CDF office, have given us. I will now operate fully as a valid motorbike rider be it in or outside Kibera since I own a valid driving licence," said Milton Ochieng'.

“I will always maintain and keep it safe and use it wherever I am asked to produce it. The challenge we have been facing is harassment by traffic police for lack of a licence and now it has come to an end. Let the police know that we are qualified riders with valid licences. We thank MP Okoth for supporting and helping Kibera residents," said Edwin Ngoge who plies the Kianda- Makina-Laini Saba route.
