Three men were on Thursday arraigned before a Kibera Court to answer to charges of allegedly shooting Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu's bodyguard.

Mr James Wachira, Mr Eric Njuguna and Mr Everyncy Khalifwa were facing charges of robbery with violence.

The prosecution told the court that the accused persons committed the crime on October 24 and were being accused of allegedly robbing Police Constable Titus Musyoka.

The court heard that the accused persons on the material date while armed with a pistol, shot and injured Constable Musyoka outside Marsabit Plaza on Ngong Road in Nairobi.

The court further heard that the three robbed the constable of Sh200,000 and his gun, a jerico pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition before escaping on a motorbike.

The accused were arrested by the police on November 17 in Ruiru and the weapon recovered.

The three accused person however denied the charges before Kibera chief magistrate Joyce Gandani and filed an application to be released on bond pending the next case hearing.

Magistrate Gandani ordered that they be released on a Sh1 million bond each with sureties of the same amount.
