The lowly rated residential area became the topic of discussion as the various global dignitaries present in the summit tried to shed light on the inequality gap that is visibly rampant on the African continent.

According to Oxfam International’s managing director, Byanyima Winnie, high poverty levels in slum areas are still being witnessed as growth gets squandered. Winnie further explained that people in the lower classes are getting poorer while the financially endowed individuals continue amassing more wealth. This financial gap is cited as being risky as it created a wave of animosity between the rich and the poor, a fact that has been predicted to spell a future economic crisis in developing countries.

The Oxfam director appealed to African countries, especially Kenya as a country that’s hosting the largest slum population, to be optimistic and devolve development initiatives so as to change the face of the poorly endowed households at the same time reducing the financial gaps.

President Kenyatta represented the country at the summit, and he has so far hinted of investing on the youth to improve the country's economy.
