Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers have arrested three government officials at the Kibera Huduma Centre after falling into their trap.
An undercover EACC officer posed as a foreigner seeking a birth certificate and national ID and the trio demanded a bribe to process the documents.
The officials promised to help the ‘foreigner’ to secure the documents only on condition that he parts with Sh15 000, an amount that the EACC officer was eager to provide.
A female officer arrested was captured on a secret camera telling the 'client' part with the money to make matters easy.
“Pesa ingekuwa hakuna kitu ngumu." ( If money was available, nothing is difficult)," she said.
EACC CEO Halaqhe Waqo says the anti-graft agency will be conducting such impromptu raids in government offices to tackle corruption head-on.
All the accused will face two counts of criminal charges including abuse of office and conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption.
The anti-graft boss urged public servants to exercise integrity and cautioned those involved with corrupt acts that they will face the law.
