Children in Kibera area are happy as the term comes to an end since it marks the beginning of the December holidays. Most of them are eager to celebrate christmas but according to teacher Douglas Ekina of Ayany Primary School, the children are supposed to be closely monitored by their parents.
"As much as children are happy to be back home for christmas holidays, parents should be keen with regards to observing them to ensure that they are safe," said Ekina.
"Most of the games children now play are downloaded from the internet or they watch television programmes that may not be appropriate," he added.
Ekina added that as parents, they should be the first ones to ensure safety for their children including preventing them from playing outside in the rain.
