Parents in Kibera have been asked to give equal education opportunities to boys and girls without gender bias.
Speaking this morning at Olympic area, Alice Ayuma noted that in most cases, women seem to be illiterate countrywide due to lack of equal opportunities from their parents to get an education.
“There is a very small number of ladies who are literate in our country. Kibera alone has more women idling in houses without jobs due to lack of education. Instead, they are housewives as the husbands provide for their families,’’ said Ayuma.
She noted that girls have turned into house helps instead of being taken to school. This is against the educational right for the girl child. This has reduced the number of women who vie for big posts in the society.
