Pop icon, Madonna was moved to tears during his trip to Kibera slums as she listened to a local describe how his five-year-old daughter was raped by a close neighbour.
The American singer met the emotional parent during her recent visit to Kibera which happens to be Africa's biggest slum.
Madonna had gone to the slums to see how she could rally behind the residents in a bid improve their lives.
"It was an incredibly painful and disturbing conversation regarding the realities of violence in the slums," stated Trevor Neilson, the manager of Madonna's Ray of Light Foundations as quoted by Thomson Reuters Foundation.
The 'Material Girl' artist, who brought her four children to Kenya, posted a video on her Instagram page showing the cleaning of litter in the Kibera streets, clearing gutters and even painting murals.
It is hoped that Madonna would be back to the slum area in the near future to make follow up on her pledge to the residents.
Kibera has been a major stop over for popular international icons who are curious to know how life in the slums really is.
