Today marks a special day for women as it is the International Women’s Day.
This is a day where women are appreciated and many people come out to appreciate mothers in different ways.
In Kibera, youths have used social media sites to congratulate mothers and women at large in special ways. On Facebook, many youths who hail and reside in Kibera slums have sent congratulatory messages to women as a way of their special appreciation.
Kennedy Van, a resident in Kibera wrote on his Facebook account this afternoon ‘‘Empower a woman and she will be a success, love her she will never think going back to her home, give her a house she will make it a home 4 you, happy International Women’s Day.’’
Dennis, another resident wrote on his account ‘‘Women are our mothers our sisters, our wives, friends and colleagues. As you celebrate this day, be assured that we love you we cherish you and we appreciate you and your efforts.’’
Another Kibera resident posted a congratulatory message to all women on her Instagram account.
Her post read ‘‘Happy Women's Day jewels’’.
Many Kenyans have decided to use all means to appreciate and celebrate International Women's Day and many of them have opted to use social media platforms to celebrate this special day.
