According to former Raila advisor, Eliud Owalo, the voters in the past have been voting without clearly vetting leaders hence leading to poor leadership.

Owalo added that good leadership will attract investors to start investment projects in the area and bring change in the society. He said lack of employment has made the slum dwellers turn into crime and he wants them to change their lifestyles.

Owalo, who is eyeing the Kibera seat, said he is currently working closely with his foundation to ensure the gap between the rich and poor narrows down.

“Poor leadership is the cause the escalating insecurity and we all need to ensure we get the right people to office,” he said.

Owalo was speaking during prayers for forgiveness and to show solidarity with victims of the 2007/8 Post Election Violence at Kibera slums where he called on the locals to come together as a team to be able to surmount some of the challenges affecting them.
