Kibera sub county deputy commissioner, Nyamumbo Sese criticised the local residents for painting a bad picture to the cosmopolitan slum dwelling, noting that the area had adopted a bad name, a fact that he blamed on the local youth who engage in unlawful activities.

Speaking on Wednesday, Sese hinted that the government would deal firmly with all those who broke the law.

"The Kenyan Constitution acknowledges peaceful demonstrations, but does not approve of demonstrations that involve uprooting of railway lines or harassing members of the public. Whoever gets into these vices will definitely meet the full force of the law," stated Sese.

Just mid last month, a middle aged man was shot by anti-riot police as he and fellow accomplices tried to vandalise a section of the railway line cutting through Kibera.

‘'We shall never allow the madness to continue thriving any more. I urge you parents to speak to your children and advise them to obey the law,'’ added Sese.

Kibera has been considered a violent-prone zone in the Nairobi County.
