Speaking on Saturday morning, Ronald Ongweso, who owns a clinic at Olympic village in Kibera, said that cigarette smoking contributes majorly to lung cancer among smokers.

Ongweso advised residents to stop smoking in order to reduce their chances of getting lung cancer that is associated with smoking.

“Cancer is causing so many deaths these days in the world. I urge all residents who smoke to stop as this will help prevent lung cancer. The time is now to stop smoking for a healthy living,” said Ongweso.

He also noted that alcohol intake and too much consumption of meat are other also contributors of cancer. He said that people should stop drinking and, at least, eat meat once a week.

“I wish to advise the young people and the general public to stop consuming too much meat. Stop smoking cigarettes and at the same time, stop drinking alcohol to prevent cancer,” said Ongweso.
