A US-based non-profit making social enterprise dubbed 'Can Ya Love' is set to introduce and train Kibera slum residents on how to erect pillar gardens as an alternative to the widespread shortage of land for farming.
In an article posted on its website on Wednesday, the organisation said that their aim of coming up with the Can Ya Love project is to have an all time unique gardening system in the impoverished urban community where space and access to healthy food is sorely lacking.
"Impoverished slum communities in the developing countries are the hardest hit by food shortage with the added problem of poor sanitation. To curb this, the vertical gardens come in multiple ergonomic models, they are nevertheless accessible and easy to maintain,' read the post in part.
The organisation intends to roll-out the project Kibera, a slum area that it says is 30 times more densely populated than the American New York City.
