Kibera constituency leadership through the area MP, Ken Okoth, started the Elimu Kwanza initiative, and now he has started the Asante Shule campaign.
The campaign will see former students of different schools donate free resources to their former schools. This will see every school transformed into a community. The alumni will also help in volunteer training towards the current students, coaching and holding mentorship classes for the students.
The campaign has received more support from Kibera youths. Joan Mbugua, an alumnus of St. Georges Primary School said she is willing to take up the challenge to help pupils in her former school by holding mentorship classes with them. Ms. Mbugua said this is a good initiative and will help both the scholars and alumni.
''The scholars will benefit from what we will be giving them and we will also gain since it will give us a chance to research on different topics. This is also a way of gaining more knowledge,'' she said.
