I have been going through challenges especially buying equipments used in carpentry work but so far I can say I am good now,” Otieno said.

He said the profession has been successful since he is able to make more money as compared to his friends who are employed.

“I make all types of furniture such as sofa sets, chairs, tables, sitting stools, beds among other equipments. My prices are affordable and this is the reason I am prospering in this business. At times, I get contracts from companies that hire me to make tables and chairs. This earns me extra money,” he stated.

Otieno who urged youths who just finished secondary and primary education who have no any other alternative to join polytechnics to learn skills on carpentry, welding, mechanics, tailoring and dressing making to create self employment in the future instead of being idle in the villages.
