Kibera youths have taken a step to sensitise people on the social media sites to register as voters before the registration exercise closes on March, 15 2016.
A youth in the area, Gilbert Kobi uses his Facebook account to post encouragement quotes that will push the youths and the general public who have not registered as voters to register as voters.
His post read ‘‘If you are a supporter of a certain party or coalition and you haven't registered as a voter, you should do it now.’’
On the other hand, Mc Jac, another youth also posted a post that urged people to register as voters.
In his post this morning he said ‘‘I am NOT happy. Why is it that if one person says they are supporting a specific political party someone with a different opinion sees you as an enemy? Let’s get rid of that mentality, register as voters and vote for change.’’
The sensitisation on social media sites will help boost the turnout of residents and the general public. The small gesture by a few youths in Kibera is already working. It just needs more people to address the issue for change to be seen.
