Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Karanja Kibicho has guaranteed security ahead of Mashujaa day celebrations in Machakos tomorrow.
The Interior PS said preparations for the national fete are complete.
Kibicho urged Kenyans to attend the fete stating that adequate security measures have been put in place.
“We encourage Kenyans especially from the Eastern region to turn up in large numbers as we celebrate Mashujaa day on Thursday,” he said during a briefing with journalists at Gelian hotel in Machakos town on Tuesday.
The PS said that they are expecting to host over 20,000 Kenyans at the Machakos stadium.
The Mashujaa day fete will be held in Machakos town for the first time.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will lead the celebrations at the Machakos stadium.
Others expected to attend the fete are Deputy President William Ruto, top government officials and other dignitaries.
While unveiling the Muindi Mbingu statute at Machakos town on Tuesday, Governor Alfred Mutua said all is set for the fete.
“We are humbled to host this national fete and our appeal is for Kenyans to turn up in large numbers,” said Mutua.
The Machakos governor said it is an honor for the county to host the national fete.
During this year's Madaraka day celebrations held at Afraha stadium in Nakuru in June, President Kenyatta announced that national days will be celebrated in counties.
