Sixty head teachers from different primary schools within Kibra on Monday met at the Kibra Constituency Development Fund office at DC area to plan for the 2015 interschools competition.

Setting the date at October 22, the teachers say they started holding the competition since last year for all class seven pupils before they join class eight.

According to Kibra Constituency parliamentary liaison officer Vincent Ayako, the competition which is organised and funded by the area Member of Parliament, Ken Okoth, has been well received well by the by teachers and pupils.

"We started the exercise last year and we have had positive feedback from teachers. Schools which participate in the competition have fully thanked us for supporting the children's education," said Ayako.

Ayako said the competition is not only meant to know the best performing school in Kibera but also to help different schools engage in healthy competition.

"We not only want to know the best school but also know how different schools perform. It is a healthy competition that helps teachers to evaluate the performance of their school. We are working hard to boost the mean score of Kibra schools so that we can perform better in the national exams," he added.
