Women from Kibra constituency are among the thousands of women set to benefit form free computer training courtesy of Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga.
The training aims at equipping the women who belong to registered groups with Information Technology skills that will help them grow their businesses.
Omanga who lost the Nairobi Women Representative seat to NASA's Esther Passaris during the August 8, general election said on Wednesday the program will later be rolled out to all the 85 wards that constitute Nairobi County.
"Women only need to belong to registered groups to benefit," the Senator, a close ally to Deputy President William Ruto said.
"From Kasarani to Kibra, from Pipeline to Kangemi, they will benefit."
She made the remarks after commissioning the training in Kariokor Ward in Kasarani constituency on Wednesday.
Omanga during her campaigns promised to equip women with skills necessary for them to star up businesses and be self reliant.
She said one of the problems facing women not only in Nairobi but in Kenya as a whole is dependence on men adding that there is need for the government and leaders in their private capacities to help impart business skills to people with business ideas.
Kibra is one of the constituencies in Nairobi with the highest number of registered women groups.
