Kibra Constituency Youth Fund officer Susan Were has called upon the youth within the slum to apply for the group loans offered by the kitty.
In an exclusive interview on Wednesday at the Youth Fund Offices in Kibera, Were confirmed that the kitty that was launched during President Kibaki's regime is still active and it offers loans such as Rausha, and Inua loans with no interest.
"We have the individual products for the youths and we also have the group loans. This is the kitty that was started by president Kibaki's government.
Under the group loans we have various products; Rausha and Inua loans. Rausha loan of Sh50,000 is available for those who want to start business projects whereas for those who want to expand their businesses are offered Sh100,000 under the Inua loan," she said.
She encouraged the young people in the constituency not to shy away from such loans since they are repaid without interest.
"There is only a management fee of 5 percent for the group loans and no interest is charged. The loan is manageable; the grace period for Rausha loan is 12 months while Inua loans are repaid after three months," she added.
